Inspired baking made easy
Are you the donut, the filling or the hole –
the bagel or the bun?
Let’s be honest – some days, you feel like the donut.
Sweet, circular, smiley on the outside…
while secretly wondering:
Why do I feel like something’s missing?
Scanning for what’s not there.
Other days, you’re the filling –
squished in the middle, trying to hold it all together.
Stuffing the silence.
Closing the gap.
Soothing the tension.
Filling everyone else up – maybe even forgetting about you.
Then again, maybe you’re the hole itself –
the space in between, defined by absence.
Invisible. Overlooked.
Cutting out parts of yourself just to fit in.
Chances are, you’ve been all three –
donut, filling and hole – on rotation.
(Exhausting, right?)
Smiling or grimacing?
Either way – you know the feeling.
But here’s the twist:
The original donuts didn’t even have holes.
They were round. Solid.
Whole.
Surprise. Surprise.
Just like the ‘real’ you.
The hole came later – by design.
To cook more evenly.
To feel lighter.
To match someone’s idea of “better”.
Sound familiar?
Ok it’s crunch time.
Cookery School Entry Exam:
What % of the time are you…
• The donut?
• The hole?
• The filling?
• Whole?
Bonus points if you spotted the hole as spaciousness.
Congratulations – you’ve made it into the world-famous baking school:
Le Cordon Bleu – Prelim Class.
(Don’t get cocky – you’re not pastry royalty just yet.)
Then your instructor throws the question:
Who would you be if you weren’t any of the above – not donut, filling or hole?
The class falls silent –
until one bright spark whispers:
“Wholeness isn’t something you find – or cook up.
It’s something you remember.
The original, never-to-be-improved-upon, premium creator recipe.”
Final Exam Time (yikes – I hate exams).
The grim-reaper examiner frowns and asks:
What if nothing was missing in the first place?
What if the only difference between whole and hole… is the W?
Welcome to your Masterchef Moment.
What does your W stand for?
Worthy?
Welcoming?
Wise?
Weird?
Willing?
Wonderful?
Warm?
Wild?
Witty?
Wholehearted?
Wondrous Whacky Wizard of Wow?
(extra points for flavour – creativity counts.)
The Chef de Cuisine (aka the boss) declares:
“When you find your W –
you graduate with honours,
don your white chef’s hat,
and earn your first Michelin star.”
On your graduation certificate it’s written:
Take up space. Be delicious. Own your W.
One Final Word of Advice
(OK it’s unsolicited)
If anyone tries to poke a hole in your joy?
Just smile sweetly and say:
“Sorry – I’m just not that kind of donut.”
Chef’s kiss with side of grinning sprinkles,
